SAN BENITO — It’s all in the music.
That seemed to be on everyone’s minds yesterday evening at W.H Heavin Memorial Park.
Music lovers had gathered for Resacafest and stood around drinking lemonade and eating kettle corn as they waited for the music.
Others sat in lawn chairs in the shade of a Texas ebony fanning themselves.
“It’s a good turnout,” said Norbert Flores, 49, who’d driven to the event from Brownsville with his wife Jana.
“We came up because we heard about the event,” he said. “This is going to be our third time. We like the food and the variety of people.”
“It’s a good variety of music,” added his wife Jana, 44.
Dirty 3, Christina y Los Latinos and 512 Madrid were scheduled to perform for the gathering music lovers.
Zergio Ramirez, 33, and his wife had driven from the Mid-Valley to see the main attraction, Elida Reyna y Avante.
“This is our second year coming,” said Zergio, who pushed his infant son in a stroller.
“We like the music and the food and the people,” he said. “We’re looking forward to Elida Reyna.”
“She has some good songs; she puts on a good show,” added his wife.
The posters popping up around town caught the attention of Jo M. Rodriguez in the days leading up to the show.
“It’s my first time here,” she said. “I decided to come after work.”
She brought her four children who seemed to be having a good time, too.
“It’s fun,” said her daughter Lindzey, 15. “There’s a lot of people and I like the rides and the food.”
