For those of us that love an enticing mystery or just good laugh, listen up because I’ve got one.
But you have to ask yourself one simple question: How much do I believe the “Simpsons?”
Weird, huh?
Well, if you’ve been following the World Cup closely then you might want to keep reading.
It has been long rumored that “Simpsons” creator Matt Groening is somehow a time traveler or has a time machine tucked away in his garage.
Why, might you ask?
Well, for some time “Simpsons” fans can’t help but notice the correlation between past episodes and events that have come to pass in one shape or another.
Like in a 2010 episode where Milhouse predicted that Bengt R. Holmstrom would win the Nobel Prize in Economics, which he did in 2016.
Or when the show predicted two correct scenarios at the 2014 World Cup. Germany did beat Brazil and Germany did, in fact, go on to win the 2014 World Cup. Only Germany didn’t play Brazil in the final, it was actually Argentina.
Well, with the 2018 World Cup in full steam many Mexican National team fans can’t help but wonder if this the year the “Simpsons” will get it right again. In a past episode, the family goes to a soccer final between Mexico and Portugal, but no winner is announced due to a riot that occurs in the stands.
Still, many are wondering.
And before you say it, I know. For all the times that the “Simpsons” did get it right, there are plenty of times they got it wrong. And that’s a valid point.
Maybe the shows’ writers like to sprinkle a little truth here and there the way that I like to sprinkle parmesan cheese on top of my pizza.
Too much and it’s just terrible, but if you sprinkle just the right amount it makes for good eating.
In the end, it could be life imitating art or maybe, just maybe, Mexico and Portugal will meet in the final and we will finally have an ending to the episode that didn’t have a winner.
Except for the fact that Mexico and Portugal can’t face each other in this year’s final because they would have to settle for a semifinal match.
Oh, well. You can’t win ’em all.
