Brownsville police arrested the son of the former leader of the Gulf Cartel Tuesday night.

Brownsville police spokesman J.J. Trevino confirmed that Osiel Cardenas Jr. is the son of Osiel Cardenas, who is serving a 25 year sentence on federal drug charges.

Trevino said Osiel Cardenas Jr., 26, was arrested outside the Skybar in Brownsville for unlawful carrying of a weapon and a false report to a police officer.

According to authorities, Osiel Cardenas Jr. was waving a handgun inside the bar so he was kicked out.

Trevino said Osiel Cardenas Jr. was claiming to be a U.S. Marshal when he was arrested.
