Police: Motorcyclist strikes, kills woman in Port Isabel

Port Isabel Police say a woman was killed Sunday night when she was struck by a motorcyclist who was speeding on the emergency lane of the city’s main road.

Port Isabel Police say a woman was killed Sunday night when she was struck by a motorcyclist who was speeding on the emergency lane of the city’s main road.

The accident happened at 7:30 p.m. on the 100 block of W. Queen Isabella Blvd. near the intersection of North Musina St.

Police Chief Robert Lopez says the victim, who was 66-years-old, had walked across the busy street and was near the sidewalk when she was hit by the speeding motorcycle.

He said the driver is a 33-year-old Weslaco area man who is hospitalized with serious injuries.

No charges have been filed yet. The victim’s name has not been released because police are having trouble finding relatives.
