HARLINGEN — Many will feast on wild game for a good cause tomorrow night.
Fish, wild boar, deer, duck and nilgai are some of the delicacies on the menu for guests who attend the Ronald McDonald House Charities 19th Annual Wild Game Feast.
The feast is celebrating the 20 years of service Valley families have received from the Ronald McDonald House and honoring the Frank N. Boggus family for their contributions to the Harlingen Ronald McDonald House.
The feast takes place tomorrow night at the UTRGV School of Medicine campus in Harlingen.
“We are honoring Frank Boggus and his family for their 20 years of support,” said Cynthia Guerra, Ronald McDonald House Charities-RGV executive director. “It’s going to be amazing.”
She said 20 members of the Boggus family will be there.
Special guest Andrea Pedraza, now 18, stayed eight months at the Ronald McDonald House after being born a 1½-pound baby.
“The dinner is really about all the individuals who go through the house in time of need and access all the benefits and comfort they receive at the Ronald McDonald House,” said Jacob Boggus. “They are honoring the whole family because the whole family has really participated in helping the Ronald McDonald House.”
The Boggus family became one of the largest financial supporters when the Ronald McDonald House came to Harlingen in the late 1990s.
“He (Frank Boggus) was not the only supporter but he was a major one,” Jacob said about his grandfather. “His daughter Barbara Tucker managed the Ronald McDonald House for a while, also.”
He said Boggus family members have all volunteered at the house.
“Their partnership is amazing,” Guerra said about the Boggus family. “Every year they support us along with the customers who donate change at the McDonald’s helps us.”
