San Benito CISD Director of Bands Dayri M. Mendoza proudly announced that 23 student musicians from the district’s three middle schools – Berta Cabaza, Miller Jordan, and San Benito Riverside Middle School – were selected to participate in the recent Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Region 28 All-Region Band Clinic and Concert.
Held at the Donna ISD Performing Arts Center, the TMEA concert brought together the Rio Grande Valley’s top middle school band students for performances in either the Honors Band, Wind Symphony, or Symphonic Winds ensembles.
“The San Benito instrumental music programs believe that the way we do anything is the way we do everything. Establishing a pattern of success following hard work, at a young age, provides students with a mindset that yields success in all areas of their formal education,” stressed Mendoza.
According to Mendoza, preparing the students for their auditions, clinics, and concerts is truly a team effort. The band directors of each middle school along with campus administrators and the parents of the honorees are instrumental to the success of the young student musicians.
