McAllen police officer arrested

PALM VALLEY — Police in Palm Valley have arrested a McAllen police officer charged with assault family violence.

Police here said they responded to a call Friday night regarding a reported domestic violence in the 600 block of Palm Valley Drive West.

The investigation revealed that a male subject at the location had allegedly assaulted his 36-year-old wife, police said in a statement issued yesterday.

The man was later identified as Roel Garza, 37, a police officer with the McAllen Police Department.

Garza was processed at the Palm Valley Police Department and transported to the La Feria City Jail. He was magistrated by La Feria Municipal Court Judge Arturo Salas yesterday and assessed a $3,500 personal recognizance bond.
