Cold stunned turtles released into Gulf of Mexico

Dozens of cold stunned turtles were released on South Padre Island today.

The turtles were rehabilitated at Sea Turtle Inc. after they were stunned by the cold front and snow that hit the Valley last week.

Volunteers carried the turtles from vehicles and put them into the water. Some of the turtles were so heavy it took two volunteers to carry them.

Officials hope most of the turtles will travel south towards Mexico and avoid the cold weather that is forecast for the Valley this weekend.
