Greyhound fans held send-off for team

SAN BENITO — Williams Road was lined with excited fans today, eager to wave goodbye to the San Benito High School football team as they made their way toward Corpus Christi.

The community was invited to join the district in waving goodbye to the team as they left for the regional playoff game against the San Antonio O’Conner Panthers.

Greyhound fans displaying purple fan shirts, held banners and waved flags as the team headed south.

In anticipation of the big game, Superintendent Dr. Nate Carmen sent out a statement issuing an early release for students and faculty earlier this week.

The early release allowed students headed to tonight’s game to arrive safely without having to rush.
