Investigators searching for suspect in October murder near Mission

Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office investigators issued an arrest warrant for a man accused of being involved in a murder near Mission last month.

McALLEN – Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office investigators issued an arrest warrant for a man accused of being involved in a murder near Mission last month.

Investigators issued a warrant for Michael Valle Chavez, 39, who they believe was involved in the fatal shooting.

Gerardo Alberto Martinez Gomez, 38, was fatally shot and found lying on the ground on Los Ebanos Road, north of Farm-to-Market Road 2221 near Mission on Oct. 16 at about 10 p.m.

Investigators and crime scene specialists gathered evidence and ordered an autopsy last month, according to a Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office news release.

The investigation into the shooting death remains ongoing.
