HARLINGEN — Colleges and universities will gather next week to speak with local students about pursuing their future.
The Harlingen school district’s College Night will be held at Casa de Amistad where about 60 colleges, universities and even trade schools will talk to students about finding the right coursework for their dreams.
College Night is organized by the Texas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers at different school districts around the state. Belin Valdez, college and career liaison at Harlingen High School, said students from numerous surrounding school districts will be invited to the event.
“We will have smaller districts that don’t get a college night,” Valdez said. “There are schools like La Feria and we’ll have MMA there.”
She said students will have an opportunity to speak with representatives from Texas A&M University, the University of Texas and Texas State University. They’ll meet with the University of New Mexico and Iowa State, and Tulsa Welding School and Technology Center.
Representatives of the military will also be available to answer questions.
“There are going to be resource tables and they’ll be able to pick up brochures,” she said.
