Local Crime: Hit-and-run suspect arrested, fraud case, missing teen found

HARLINGEN — A man found lying in a ditch yesterday is recovering from a hit-and-run crash.

Police Sergeant Larry Moore said the crash happened near the intersection of Queen Sago Drive and Beckham Road.

Police arrested the driver in connection to the hit-and-run and have the vehicle in custody.

The driver is scheduled to be arraigned in municipal court today.

Moore said the hit-and-run after it happened around 5:45 a.m Sunday morning.

Moore said the man was suffering from injuries when he was found lying in the ditch and was transported to a nearby hospital.

Moore said the victim underwent surgery and is recovering.

Credit card fraud

Harlingen police are in search of a man who used a stolen credit/debit card to purchase beer at a local H-E-B.

On August 22, a female Harlingen resident reported that unknown users had some how gained access to her debit card and made unauthorized purchases.

She is asking police to help find the people using her bank card.

One of the unauthorized purchases was made at the H-E-B located at 1213 S. Commerce Street in the amount of $19.99.

Police have a person of interest in the case who is seen purchasing items with the stolen bank card.

Missing teen found

Hours after San Benito police sought help from the public to find a missing teen, Yamiles Jaramillo was located safe.

Jaramillo, 16, was listed as a runaway early yesterday.

She had been last seen at the Jack n the Box restaurant on Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m.

Police thanked the community support on Facebook for helping locate Jaramillos.
