The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office is looking for the brother of an Alamo woman charged with dumping her boyfriend’s body in a Donna orchard.

Santos Omar Vasquez has outstanding arrest warrants for charges unrelated to the death of Carlos Mario Perez Aguilar, a 17-year-old Mexican national whose body was found July 23 in an orchard off Business Highway 83 and Val Verde Road.

Vasquez has three warrants for assault, criminal trespass and criminal mischief, said Jena Palacios, HCSO spokesperson. His role in the case of Aguilar’s death remains under investigation.

His sister, Laura Leticia Vasquez, 45, was formally charged Tuesday with tampering or fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair a human corpse, a second-degree felony. Her bond was set at $50,000.

She told investigators that after Vasquez informed her that her boyfriend had committed suicide in their Alamo home, they drove to an orange grove to dump his body, according to the criminal complaint.

The results of Aguilar’s autopsy are still pending, said Palacios.

Those with information that can lead to Santos Omar Vasquez’s arrest are asked to call the sheriff’s office at (956) 383-8114 or the anonymous Hidalgo County Crime Stoppers hotline at (956) 668-8447.
