A 26-year-old man applying for a job with the Harlingen Police Department died Sunday morning during a fitness test.
According to a department news release, the man collapsed on the running track during the final stages of the entry-level police officer job simulation testing.
EMS and the Harlingen Fire Department were on hand at the test site and immediately transported the man to Valley Baptist Medical Center, where he later died.
“The family shared he was pursuing his dream and we ask everyone to keep the family in your thoughts and prayers during their time of loss,” the release said.
The victim’s name has not been released.
