PRIMERA — Mayor David Kusch is hosting a “Breakfast with the Mayor” event to visit with community members and talk about city projects.
The morning meeting will take place at Primera City Hall on Saturday beginning at 8:30 a.m.
“I will be providing updates on various city projects and am willing to answer questions or concerns,” Kusch said. “All the citizens of Primera are welcome to attend.”
The mayor said breakfast tacos and refreshments will be served for those in attendance.
Kusch is following up with his second “Breakfast with the Mayor” event. He last organized a similar meeting for the community to attend three months ago.
He said the community members who attended the first meeting suggested he organize another.
“I would like the citizens of Primera to be more involved,” Kusch said. “I want them to also be aware of what the city is trying to do.”
City Administrator Javier Mendez reemphasized that community members of Primera are invited to join the mayor on Saturday.
“The mayor is going to give a report to the public on what is going on,” Mendez said.

* The city is in the process of developing an interlocal agreement with Cameron County to rehabilitate north Stuart Place Road, one of two major thoroughfares, at a cost of $560,000 to be paid for from the city’s general fund reserves.
* Submitted a grant proposal to the Texas Department of Agriculture’s Community Development Block Grant Program for the continued reconstruction of Carver Road west from El Paso Road to the railroad tracks.
Total funds applied for is $275,000.
* Developed plans to construct a Veterans Memorial projected to cost $100,000.
* Authorized city staff to submit a grant application for sidewalks to the Texas Department of Transportation’s Alternative Transportation Routes grants program.
