The case against former interim Cameron County Judge Pete Sepulveda Jr. was dismissed this morning.

On Friday afternoon the state filed a motion to dismiss the case against Sepulveda due to insufficient probably case. As a condition of the dismissal court records indicate Sepulveda agreed to take part in a pretrial diversion program for one year.

Sepulveda was indicted on charges of abuse of official capacity, theft by a public servant and misapplication of fiduciary property in December of 2016. He was accused of using county materials and employees to pave a private road in San Benito.

The Cameron County District Attorney’s Office says as a condition of the pretrial diversion, Sepulveda has agreed to reimburse the county for the materials, equipment and labor that was used to pave the road.
