Top cats: Rio Hondo Leads 32-4A All District list

To no surprise the Rio Hondo Lady Bobcats, who advanced all the way to the Region IV-4A finals, led District 32-4A with six first-team selections and four superlative awards including Brett Esparza, who was named Coach of the Year.

The league’s Most Valuable Player went to Rio Hondo ace Jennifer Flores, Offensive Player of the Year went to junior Bianca Cruz and Defensive Player of the Year was awarded to shortstop Alexa Castellanos.

Meanwhile Zapata’s Selene Garza was tabbed Newcomer of the Year and Utility Player of the Year went to Raymondville’s Stephanie Rodriguez.
