Peggy Paris to display art at Port Isabel Library

The Laguna Madre Art League has selected artist member Peggy Paris to display samples of her art at the Port Isabel Library during the month of June.

Peggy Paris grew up in Brownsville and moved to the Island after her husband retired. She began her art career making fabric wall hangings.

She took several art classes because she felt the artistic design principles of color, perspective, and composition were important to designing her art quilts.

She set aside her work with fabric to work with watercolors and now is painting mostly with oil. Her work can be found on the island in the Kingfisher Gallery in front of Daddy’s restaurant, in the Art Space, and in the SPI First National Bank in Port Isabel.

She has recently opened the Seaside Art Studio where artists have room and a peaceful place to paint. One may see the artists at work and look at their paintings in the Sea Ranch Marina.

Paris’ art work will be displayed throughout June at the Port Isabel Library. It is free and open to the public.

The library is located at 213 Yturria St. For library hours call 956-943-2265.
