NWS: Risk of severe weather for tonight

The NWS reports a cold pushing south across Texas combined with an upper level trough will produce thunderstorms ahead of the front.

The storms will pass through the northern ranchlands between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. today and through the mid and lower Rio Grande Valley from 9 p.m. today to 1 a.m. Wednesday.

These storms could produce wind gusts in excess of 60 mph, possible large hail and heavy rainfall, the NWS reports. Isolated rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches of rain are possible. Minor and nuisance street flooding is possible.
