Body found in Delta Lake

LASARA — Authorities are trying to determine the identity of a body pulled from Delta Lake.

The body was pulled from the back of Delta Lake in an area off FM 1015 south of Lasara in Hidalgo County around late morning yesterday, Willacy County Sheriff Larry Spence said.

Spence said authorities had not determined whether the body was that of a man or woman.

The body appeared to have been caught in debris, Spence said.

“It may have drifted there,” he said.

The Raymondville Police Department and Texas Rangers, the lead agencies in the case, were trying to determine whether the remains may be those of Nora Conde Villalobos, 49, of Raymondville, officials said.

“It may be the person we’ve been looking for,” Raymondville Mayor Gilbert Gonzales said about 6:30 p.m. yesterday. “There could be closure.”

Conde Villalobos, a former U.S. Marine, was wearing a red top with silver pants and black heels when she was last seen April 19 near her home.

A turtle was tattooed on top of her left foot and a tattoo of flowers, a tower and an angel on her left arm.
