HARLINGEN — A Harlingen man has been arrested after police said he pulled a gun on a security guard.
At approximately 4:42 p.m. on Thursday, police responded to the Kohl’s Department store in reference to a robbery that had just occurred.
Upon contact, loss prevention reported that a man had selected a gold necklace valued at $60 and left the building without paying for it.
When confronted outside the building by loss prevention officers, the man later identified as Jonathan Tadeo Garza Bracamonte, 23, pulled a black handgun from his waistline, pointed it at the officers and threatened to shoot them, police said.
The officers stepped back and the man ran from area and got into a greenish compact vehicle with a woman and a 3-year-old child inside.
They drove off.
During an extensive investigation and search involving patrol officers, members of the major crimes unit, members of the SWAT team and others, an arrest warrant for Bracamonte was obtained.
He was located and arrested about three hours later on Altas Palmas Road, south of Business 83, without incident.
He was arraigned on two first-degree felony charges of aggravated robbery, with bond totaling $150,000.
