HARLINGEN — A Harlingen woman has been arrested after police said her negligence led to the death of her two-year daughter.
Samantha Lee Gonzalez, 27, has been charged with a state jail felony for criminally negligent homicide. She was released after posting a $30,000 bond.
Police say they were called on April 19 to a residence on the 1800 block of South 3rd Street in reference to an unresponsive child.
Investigators were told the toddler fell down a flight of stairs. The little girl was taken to the hospital by EMS, where she later died. Crime scene technicians and detectives responded to process the scene and obtain witness statements.
After working with the Cameron County District Attorney’s Office an arrest warrant was issued for Gonzalez. She surrendered to police on Friday.
