Life in the Valley

We have been coming to the Valley since 1988. Goose Island for oysters, Baffin Bay for fishing, South Padre for beaches and fishing.

Drawbacks are too many lawyers on TV wanting to sue someone, and way too many corrupt politicians.

Too many cops waiting to pick out-of-state gringos from a dozen other violators.

The first thing I thought when I saw the border fence was that it would stop cows but not people, and it cut all the people who had riverfront property from enjoying the river.

Now for the good part. The weather. In Wisconsin we have nine months of winter and three months of tough sledding.

I am 92 years old and go with a cane or walker.

Seems I never come to a door that someone doesn’t rush to open it for me. I stand in awe of store clerks who speak to me in English and in the same breath answer someone else in Spanish.

I had a problem on the road and a young man cut short his errand and came to my aid.

Now it is adios for us, but if I could come back to this paradise you call the Valley for another 20 years I would.
