Accrediting agency drops complaint against TSC

Texas Southmost College has announced that its accrediting agency, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) has closed the complaints filed against TSC last fall.

In January TSC received a letter from the SACSCOC stating that it had received two formal complaints about TSC, both having to do with institutional governance. In a letter dated April 27 SACSCOC, notified TSC that the complaints filed against the college were closed after TSC provided “sufficient clarification and documentation” to satisfy the accrediting agency’s inquiry.

“TSC fully cooperated and responded to the SACSCOC’s inquiry in a transparent and timely manner,” TSC Board of Trustees Vice Chairman Trey Mendez said. “We’re happy about the SACSCOC’S decision to close the complaint. We remain focused on the growth and expansion of academic programs that will provide increased opportunities for our students, and serve in the best interests of the communities in our service area.”
