HARLINGEN — Weather forecasters say there is a possibility of severe thunderstorms with damaging hail Wednesday night across all of South Texas.
The watch area extends from Zapata County to coastal Cameron County.
An approaching cold front will lead to atmospheric instability beginning late Wednesday evening and continuing into early Thursday morning.
National Weather Service meteorologists in Brownsville say the front will move through quickly. The main concern will be strong, potentially damaging wind gusts, moderate to heavy rain locally and small hail.
Drier and slightly cooler air will filter into the region after the front makes it way through the area. Temperatures will generally remain below normal Thursday and Friday with near to slightly above normal temperatures expected for the weekend into early next week.
