Harlingen man charged with threatening police on social media

HARLINGEN — Police have arrested a man they say he threatened to shoot a police officer.

At 3 p.m. yesterday, the police department received a call from Customs and Border Protection in reference to a social media video threatening Harlingen officers.

In the video Harlingen resident Chad Michael Mollish, 22, is speaking with a Harlingen Police Officer on a traffic stop. Immediately after Mollish is released by the officer, he is seen entering his vehicle, displaying a handgun to the camera and threatening to shoot the officer the next time he is stopped.

After reviewing the video, investigators arrested Mollish near the 1400 block of Vermont. During a search of Mollish and his vehicle, polcie say they found several pills packaged for distribution and a loaded .40 caliber handgun.

Mollish is charged with two third degree felonies, one for terroristic threat and possession of a controlled substance. His bond was set at $100,000.
