McAllen Public Library will remove fines on overdue items during the month on April.

Any overdue items qualify for the amnesty, regardless of how long they have been checked out, according to a library news release. The amnesty, however, will only apply to currently checked-out items that are returned. Fines for previously returned items are not eligible.

“Our goal for this year is to get 1,000 late items returned. Staff has something fun planned once we reach that goal,” said Library director Kate P. Horan.

Items can be returned at all three McAllen Public Library locations.
