San Benito recruiting volunteers

SAN BENITO — A local beautification organization is reaching out to the community for help.

Volunteers are needed for several future San Benito events.

Keep San Benito Beautiful is currently recruiting for volunteer involvement from individuals, schools, organizations and businesses.

“We work hard to tailor our needs to meet our volunteer’s availability and skills,” said Lynne Pare, Keep San Benito Beautiful chairman.

Through education and awareness KSBB aims to get the word out on the efforts of their organization.

“Our mission is to educate and engage San Benito community members, residents and visitors to take responsibility for improving our community environment,” Pare said.

This will be a chance to be involved not only with the regatta but the DMWT Trash-Off being publicized locally, state-wide and nationally.

The “Resaca City Regatta and Kayak Race” is sponsored by the Rotary Club of San Benito, Rotary Shrimp Fest of South Texas, Inc., the City of San Benito, Cameron County Irrigation District No. 2 and partnering with many different community members, organizations and businesses. In addition, the “Day after Clean-up” is sponsored by “Don’t Mess With Texas” DMWT2017, Keep Texas Beautiful, Keep America Beautiful and Keep San Benito Beautiful and other partners.

Volunteer community hour letters will be provided upon request through the registration process and completion of one or both of the events, Pare said.
