Border Patrol agents stop marijuana smuggling attempt in Los Indios

Border Patrol agents found a large group of men trying to smuggle bundles of marijuana into the U.S. early Monday morning, according to an agency news release.

The agents were working near the Rio Grande in Los Indios when they spotted more than a dozen men with 15 bundles of narcotics land on the United States side of the river.

When the men saw the agents they swam back into Mexican taking the bundles of drugs with them.

All of the accused drug smugglers were wearing little clothing when they were in the river. Many could be seen getting dressed and carrying white bundles up the river bank on the Mexican side of the Rio Grande.

According to the news release, agents have seized more than 110,000 pounds of marijuana in the Valley since Oct. 1, 2016.
