Man arrested on sexual assault of a child charges

HARLINGEN — Police have arrested a man they say sexually assaulted a child.

Jorge Alberto Rodriguez, 42, of Harlingen has been arraigned on several felony charges, including four counts of aggravated sexual assault of child, six counts of possession of child pornography and five counts of sexual performance by a child.

His bond was set at $9.3 million.

On Jan. 15, the Harlingen Police Department Major Crimes Unit was given information in reference to an aggravated sexual assault of a child, police said.

Investigators started working with the information and were able to build a criminal case.

During the course of the investigation, evidence and statements were gathered and Rodriguez was identified as the suspect, police said.

He was arrested Thursday and charged.
