CBP: Guatamalan national arrested with $319K in heroin, meth

U.S. Customs and Border Protection says it arrested a Guatemalan man after he tried to smuggle heroin and methamphetamine into the U.S. this week.

According to a CBP news release, the 33-year-old man, who lives in Los Angeles, drove across the Los Indios International Bridge on Monday in a blue 1999 Ford F150 pickup.

During a secondary inspection officers say they discovered a large package containing 13.67 pounds of heroin and four small packages containing half a pound of methamphetamine hidden in the truck. The narcotics have a combined street value of $319,436.

CBP officers seized the drugs and pickup. The driver was turned over to Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents.
