Ladies sing the Blues: Annual free concert spotlights women

HARLINGEN — Tonight is the night for the ladies of blues.

Blues on the Hill, the city’s annual summer concert series, continues with headliner Laura Rain & the Caesars, with special guests Hilda Lamas and Niecie.

The free concert, planned for McKelvey Park, has been moved to Lon C. Hill Park, 605 North L St., just for today.

Organizers said flooding in the back of McKelvey Park would have made it difficult for vendors, sponsors and large vehicles to set up for the show.

Tonight’s concert is entitled “Ladies of Blues.”

Hilda Lamas is scheduled to perform at 7 p.m., followed by Niecie beginning at 8:15 p.m.

Remember, the concert is free to the public. Just bring your own chairs and blankets.

Blues on the Hill has been a family oriented event in Harlingen for the past 12 years and features national and international blues artists.

The show is normally held on the hill at McKelvey Park.

Food vendors will be on site. No outside food or beverages are permitted.
