HARLINGEN — On Oct. 18 last year, the Valley Morning Star published a story with the headline, “Who you gonna call?”
The story featured paranormal investigator George Acosta.
Months later a television producer from Destination America who had read the article contacted Acosta and asked if he was interested in filming a few episodes in Toronto, Canada, based on his paranormal experiences.
Acosta, being the adventurer that he is, without any hesitation said yes.
Q: What was your reaction when you first were contacted by Destination America?
A: I was ecstatic and honored at the same time cause I didn’t think somebody would be interested in the stories that I did in the past as far as paranormal investigations.
Q: Can you talk about the role on this show and a bit about the interview process?
A: It took about four times for my stories to go through. The producers had to pitch it to a number of people before it finally received the OK. That’s when they called me to prepare my bags and to make sure my passport was in order.
Q: Was this your first time going to Canada?
A: Yes, this was my first time. It was very cold. If I remember correctly, when I arrived at the airport it was around 10 degrees.
Q: What was your experience like?
A: It was a great experience. I was treated like a king. It was awesome. I would do it again if I had the opportunity.
Q: How long did filming take?
A: The filming took the whole entire day. We started filming from about 10:30 in the morning till 8:30 at night. The place we were filming was under renovation and I was just sitting in front of a large gray screen.
Q: Are there any new projects you’re working on that you can talk about?
A: Well, I am looking forward to the show airing. I was told it will be airing this April or May and is called Paranormal Investigator.
