LAGUNA VISTA — Brush fires aren’t usually a big problem here.
But to be proactive, the city has procured equipment to battle the flames just in case.
This little town by the bay is now the proud owner of a used five-ton Army truck.
The six-wheel drive former U.S. Army-owned vehicle was delivered to the town Monday.
“We are so excited,” City Manager Rolando Vela said. “This is our way of continuing to provide our citizens with the best service.”
The town secured it at no charge from the Texas Forest Service and will be converting it into a brush fire truck.
The Laguna Vista Fire Department also will install a detachable “skid unit” that includes a 750-gallon tank with a 13-horse-power water pump, a hose reel with 200 feet of hose, a 20-gallon foam tank for chemical fires, all stainless steel valves and discharges, LED control panel, suction hose, hose tray and two front bumper spray nozzles.
