Harlingen History Goes Digital: Part I

Thanks to the efforts of Sergio Mujica, systems analyst with the City of Harlingen, those interested in Harlingen history now have ready access to a wealth of information.

Sergio has established a link under the My Harlingen website (www.myharlingen.us).

Go to this address and click on Departments, then click Harlingen Arts and Heritage Museum in the index. Clicking on this link will open your digital world to a wealth of information on numerous facets of Harlingen.

Under this category will be found a link titled The Harlingen of History, a compilation by Norman Rozeff.

First there is Rozeff’s “The Chronological History of Harlingen”.

Its 343 pages opens with the Pre-historic Harlingen area then moves decade by decade through the year 2009. In addition there is a 62-page index of over 3400 surnames noted within the chronology.

Then there are a considerable number of Harlingen history articles, a number of which have appeared in the Valley Morning Star’s Sunday Rio Living page going back over a decade.
