Art League to display various pieces at Market Days

SOUTH PADRE ISLAND — The Laguna Madre Art League will once again be at the Market Days event at the Convention Center on the Island on Jan. 22, 23 and 24.

Art League members have a variety of artistic talents including oil and watercolor painting, batik, wood carving, jewelry making, shell art and much more.

Fern Kubalski is an artist from Brownsville, formerly from Minnesota. She and her husband have enjoyed living in Brownsville for the past 13 years. She started painting in 2007.

Her favorite paintings are on swan and turkey feathers. She has two swans at her resort where she lives and friends now bring the feathers to her from up north. Fern has paintings in a restaurant in San Benito as well as at the Brownsville Museum of Fine Art. She is a member of the Art Gallery in Port Isabel.

Beckey Crowell and her husband, Lewis, work together as a team. He cuts and polishes the stones from Mother Nature and Becky wraps these beautiful stones with sterling wire. These beautiful creations are one of a kind.

These artists and many more will be in Rooms 10-4 just off the back of the main entrance.

This art show is sponsored by the El Paseo Arts Foundation.

The artists will each be donating a piece of art for the raffle which the LMAL has at the two events at the Convention Center. The proceeds from the raffle go 100 percent to the high Port Isabel school Art Scholarship Fund.
