After a night of storms and a morning filled with rain put the status of today’s UTRGV baseball game against No. 6-ranked Texas up in the air, UTRGV athletics brought out the big guns to guarantee a game. A helicopter was brought in to help dry the field of UTRGV Baseball Stadium at 3:50 p.m., 2 and 1/2 hours hours before game time.
It is Texas’ first trip to the Rio Grande Valley since 1971, when Pan American won three out of four games against the Longhorns.
The Vaqueros’ nonconference matchup against the Longhorns is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. Tickets have been sold out since March 6. The game can be see online on ESPN’s streaming service, ESPN+.
