MISSION — The Mission Police Department unveiled four new motorcycles Monday that will soon be hitting the streets.
The four new 2022 Harley Davidson police motorcycles were unveiled at the Mission Police Department on Monday.
“We have older models, so we have upgraded,” Investigator Art Flores said. “The motorcycles are equipped with new technology that has radar and radio. We’re also looking into getting some new helmets for our motorcycle officers. We’ll be using (the motorcycles) a lot more than what we used to, and it’s a big plus because we can do a lot more traffic not in certain areas that are kind of cluttered.”
The new bikes are black in color with the Mission Police Department badge and a blue line on the fuel tank. Flores said that there are currently four motorcycle police officers in the department, but there could likely be more added in the future.
“We’re just trying to upgrade our motorcycle unit, which belongs to our traffic unit, just to show the presence to our community that we’re here to protect and serve and keep our streets safe from all these violators that are out there.”
