Yarrington is considered a flight risk, considering his fugitive status of six years, U.S. Magistrate Judge Ronald Morgan ruled.

During the hearing, Yarrington’s court-appointed attorney, Carlos Monarrez, told Morgan that he wanted to postpone the detention hearing because of new details were revealed to him after meeting with Yarrington that he needed to check out that concerned whether Yarrington should be detained pending trial.

“In the course of his preparation for defendant’s detention hearing, defense counsel has been informed that information significantly relevant to Defendant’s detention hearing exists,” Monarrez’s opposed motion to delay the detention hearing states.

Whatever that information is was not revealed during the hearing.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Jody Young, who is prosecuting the case, told Morgan that Yarrington is most certainly a flight risk because of his fugitive status, his ties to Italy and Mexico and because of the nature of the charges.

Morgan scheduled a trial date for June 8 and estimated a trial could last up to 3 weeks.

Yarrington is facing a multitude of federal charges relating to drug trafficking, bank fraud, laundering money, making false statements to federally insured U.S. banks and conspiring to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization, or RICO, statute.
