Letters: Facts come at the end

I heard a comment sometime back by someone, no name in particular: “Don’t believe what you read or hear in the news by 90% and the other 10% cast some doubt. That came to be true in the story about a group of people that came from South Carolina for a medical procedure and were gunned down in Matamoros. Hearsay information dominated the story. “Two were found in a house getting medical aid, two others were found dead in a field.” None of this was true.

Finally the truth came out. All four were at an abandoned shed and one cartel member was arrested at the site by Mexican law enforcement. So, I have to agree with that quote on the truth and the news. The facts do not come out first but, at the very end.

Littering linked

to immigration

Lisa Reinsch (Jan. 23) made some very good points about the differences of her home state and the conditions she has found in South Texas.

I have always believed that immigration law has been very well thought out and has great intentions! The law does not need an overhaul as many liberals claim.

There is an important reason for the lengthy process for citizenship that can be summed up with one word: assimilation! “The process through which individuals and groups of differing heritages acquire the basic habits, attitudes, and mode of life of an embracing culture.”

Her complaint about littering is one of many bumps that we as Americans have felt as a result of foreigners living in our country illegally or legally but with no intentions of ever becoming citizens! They’re here for the money and nothing else! Those ill-informed lovers of open borders have no idea of the impact those poor invaders of our country have on a community and our way of life! The drugs many are obligated to transport as payment for passage!

Let enough people in and even Mrs. Reinsch will see a change in her northern home state! All the states!

Extremely important is our health services getting overwhelmed! Medical bills start increasing because doctors and hospitals are not being paid! Our community (children and adults) are exposed to diseases common in Third World countries!

Living on the border, I have seen collateral influences as a result of years of cultural differences between citizens and non-citizens. The lack of respect between a man and a woman, a boy toward a girl is a tragedy! Latin (romantic) cultures view the female very differently in their countries! It is very common for a married man in Hispanic countries to father multiple families while married! “Eres hombre” — you’re a man!

I could go on and on because I have seen the changes! Most recently, the abandonment of table utensils. More and more where tortillas are served, you see people use a piece of tortilla, one hand, no fork! What the heck? What happened to the fork? Why is it changing? Immigration?

People are coming from countries where manners and lifestyles are not affected by parents or taught at schools!

We cannot lift people out of poverty if we ourselves are overwhelmed! The sheer numbers alone will bring us down! How are we expected elevate them to our lifestyles and customs? It’s getting worse!
