Letters: Casting blame

Ron DeSantis, the governor of Florida, called President Biden’s Sept. 1 speech “the most disgusting ever.” This coming from someone who disgustingly called Dr. Anthony Fauci an “elf.” That DeSantis demonstrates such a crude example to his constituents so his constituents can pass it on to their kids is despicable. If he wants to be President of the USA, he needs to remember that the American people just got rid of a president who thought his juvenile name-calling made him look presidential.

DeSantis’ shallow thinking might please his MAGA supporters, but the millions of intelligent people who have a high regard for Dr. Fauci are not pleased. Dr. Fauci is an American immunologist who served as a key adviser to seven presidents! Those who admire and respect Dr. Fauci’s dedication to America will cast a shadow over those who choose to demonize him.

If DeSantis wants to tell Floridians that he’s a callous, narrow-minded jerk, fine. What he’s actually telling them, without realizing it, is that he’s not fit to occupy Florida’s prestigious state Capitol. Will Floridians recognize this and act accordingly? Sabra Dios?

But enough of DeSantis. Let’s move on to Mr. Sherwood Uhrmacher’s letter to the editor on Sept. 6, which blames President Biden and Democrats for his doom and gloom. He does, however, seems to be ecstatic that Gov. Abbott is systematically destroying the “sanctuary city” programs of New York and Washington, D.C. So, go figure.

“If I leave mi casa, won’t the camino to America be treacherous?”

“Si, but once we reach Tejas, our journey to New York will be safer y mas rapido.”

“Que que?”

“Si, el governador de Tejas is providing buses with air-conditioning to get us there. So, when he runs for president, let’s vote for him.”

‘Wait — what? We can vote?”

“Si, somebody in Brownsville says we can. So, it must be true. Let’s give it a try.” Hoo-boy.

Ruben Navarrette’s Commentary of Sept. 22 reflects his conflictive ideologies The more he writes the more he displays his “sway whichever way the wind blows,” politically correct,

phony attitude.

His shifting commentary stands on important issues reminds readers of a riderless horse or vehicle. Perhaps his writing skills are waning.

People usually always stand for something or stand for nothing at all. This is defined by courage, principle, character or lack of all three.

He feigns sanctimonious compassion for migrants by blasting Gov. Greg Abbott and Gov. Ron DeSantis for shipping migrants to the elitist Martha’s Vineyard, but ridiculously ignores the abusive actions of the power-greedy politicians who entice these suffering migrants with false promises, endangering their lives while deliberately keeping wide open borders. All this is only done for their electoral greed and personal power.

Whoever entices these poor migrants should have the moral responsibility of protecting them, by not encouraging them to risk their lives. Stop shift-blaming Abbott and DeSantis, they’re not for open borders, period.

Navarrette’s duplicity and political chameleon attitude is increasing and noticeable. Not very journalistic, or authentic.
