Letters: No more liberals

It is interesting how a letter to editor by a progressive Democrat said it’s a novel idea to stop trashing Washington liberals. Fact is, there are no liberal Democrats anymore except for maybe three, and they are Henry Cuellar of South Texas, Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona. The rest are radical progressive Democrats. One only has to look at Congressman Cuellar’s primary election.

The June 21 letter to the editor also said that our congresswoman, Mayra Flores, should enlighten us, the voters, on how to address the affordable medical crisis. Doesn’t the writer understand that his progressive Democrat party under Barack Obama and Joe Biden gave us the Affordable Care Act, better known as Obamacare. The writer should know that Obama and Biden solved the medical crisis.

I don’t remember progressive Democrats calling for enlightenment when Obamacare was passed into law.

The writer mentioned the problems of homelessness and opioids. A better question to ask is who created these homeless, opioid and education crises. Does the radical progressive Democratic Party control all three branches of government today? If so, than we should be living in an utopian country.

My question is, why do we have high inflation, high gas prices, open borders and the middle class losing on their 401(k) stock? The truth is that back on Jan. 6, 2020, we had gasoline under $2.60 a gallon. We had zero inflation. The supply chain was working well with no shortage of baby formula. Our border was secured and 401(k)s were at record highs.

It’s sad that today only revisionist history is taught in many public schools and universities. When the Voting Rights Act was passed in the ’60s, a higher percentage of Republicans than progressive Democrats voted for the bill. Among those progressive Democrats voting against it was prominent Democrat senator and a former member of the Klan, Robert Byrd of West Virginia.

What is interesting is that the Voting Rights Act ended the last legal remnants of Jim Crow and segregation. Yet, Lyndon Johnson immediately proposed a legislative blitzkrieg and in the next two decades would reenslave many poor and minorities in the web of government dependency. This was the progressive Democratic Party’s War on Poverty.

So, it is sad that these historical facts are not taught anymore.

My question is, how did it work out in the blue states? Today, one only has to look at the problems of those states controlled by progressive Democrats.

It would be very interesting to see one of these progressive Democrat ideologues write a letter to the editor and instead of criticizing conservatives and Christians, they should list not only Joe Biden’s accomplishments of the last 40 years and also his accomplishments in the past two years.

Guns have

one purpose

I reference to Jack Ayoub’s letter “Tools are tools,” yes, an airplane is designed to carry passengers, not crash into the twin towers. And yes, a knife is designed to cut a variety of things, not necessarily to cut out a heart. And yes, a baseball bat is designed to hit baseballs, not crack open heads. But here is where the argument breaks down.

An AR-15 is designed to one thing and one thing only: kill people. Whether in the hands of a soldier or a domestic terrorist, that is its function: to kill people.
