Letters: Let’s reduce gun deaths

The U.S. Congress is making an attempt to reduce the number of gun deaths in the United States. Statistics show that the larger the number of guns a society has, the more gun deaths occur. It would seem that this is a rather concrete fact.

It is apparent gun enthusiasts are not going to be sensible, and eliminate guns in our society.

What are appalling to me are the weak, political maneuvers the radical Republicans employ to avoid making any meaningful difference in the status quo. More should be done; however, at a minimum there should be a limit on magazines for assault-style weapons. The efforts, at present, are to pretend something is being done, yet will not overly offend the contributions of the gun lobby.

The assault weapons were designed to kill people, not game. I suppose you can say hunting rifles were designed to kill game, but can kill people. I realize it is fun for the macho men to go out and play soldier, but putting 30 rounds into a deer is kinda ridiculous.

When it comes to election time, try to elect people who are not bought out by the gun lobby. There are a couple here in Texas who seem like remoras on the gun manufacturers.

Loving

America

To Mr. Jesus Rodriguez’s letter of July 4, pretending leftist forgetfulness on their persecution against political opponents:

1. America-loving people do not condone college loan forgiveness for highly paid college graduate professionals, while our hardworking blue-collar workers, who never went to college, get stuck sharing tax increases to forgive somebody else’s college debt. That is neither justice, democracy, integrity or a fair shot.

2. America-loving people will always stand for the school security of all our precious children at any economic cost, without also lending a deaf ear and blind eye to the millions of other innocent babies dying continuously through cruel abortion without protection.

3. America-loving people respect and accept the rule of law in Supreme Court decisions without insider leak betrayal, without wearing fake, blood-stained clothing during vulgar demonstrations, nor do we condone the stalking or threatening of Supreme Court justices and their families. We just accept lawfully executed constitutional laws and decisions, even when we don’t win.

4. America-loving people respect their 2nd Amendment rights by being responsible, law-abiding of their gun permits, but duly question why non-citizens committing gun crimes in this country can’t be held accountable to the same legislative standards as law-abiding Americans.

5. America-loving people believe in a one-tiered system of justice for everyone, not impunity and protection for the powerful political panderers.

6. America-loving people do not condone the summer of 2020 over 500 riots, which burned federal, church and business buildings; while the media suppressed reporting them. Rioters got away with it through colluding political impunity, and soft-on-crime radical voices.

7. America loving people do not condone communism, socialism, Marxism, extremism, climate change and global domination as a means to kill freedom and democracy globally.

Castrate

deadbeats

I think our legislators should pass a law that if it can be genetically proven that a man is the father of a child and he will not support that child emotionally and financially, then he should be castrated. If legislators can control a woman’s body and force her to carry a child to term, then they should be able to prevent the man from impregnating a woman if he will not accept his responsibility.

Certify

officials

Here is a bit of information for disillusioned constitutions: Why is it that common folk require a license to perform their employment capabilities? Say, like plumbers, locksmiths, electricians, lawyers, CPAs, doctors and so forth. Why not include our elected officials, House representatives and senators?

Granted, House members get elected to unlimited two-year terms, senators to unlimited six-year terms. Prior to running for office, make sure they have appropriate degrees based upon what they are running for. Upon securing a victory in their elections, have the government tender an initial offer of employment, say probation!

If their assigned duties and responsibilities to the office and Constitution aren’t fully satisfied to their constitutions, terminate employment!

Our Congress does not and will not vote for term limits; I wonder why. Why not pay our elected officials a salary based upon experience, training, school credentials and job title?

Our elected politicians are making a career out of our politics.
