Letters: Points of view

Joel Ramirez states that all the people who support abortion have already been born (Letters, June 12).

Duh. The people who support taking away a woman’s right to choose have also “already been born.”

There is nothing wrong with being an atheist. Religion is nothing more than a point of view.

Valley seen

as a dump

That was a very nice article in the June 13 edition regarding Latino activism on climate change.

We are residents of Texas for five years. We love Texas and the Hispanic culture. What I can’t understand is why so many in lower RGV treat the Earth like it’s one big garbage dump. It is a pitiful sight in our neighborhood, and I see it all along the expressway to Harlingen.

God cannot be pleased how we are treating the beautiful Earth he gave us.

Those responsible will not be reading this, I am sure. How can we get the message across? Also, couldn’t we use detainees or those charged with community service to do group cleanups? This horrible sight is not good for the all important tourism trade. No one wants to visit a “dump.”

Response

to letter

I am not in the habit, and really prefer not to respond, to letters posted on the Opinion page, as I feel that while we are still living in a free country we are all entitled to our opinions. However, in reference to Mr. Jesus Rodriguez’s letter of June 6, I have a couple of observations.

I don’t understand why the gentleman is surprised that some people still maintain that the election was stolen from Trump two years after the fact. We still hear a lot of rumbling from Democrats that Trump stole the election from Hillary six years later.

He has the audacity to call former President Trump “the so-called ex-President.” Good Lord, President Biden (and I’ll try to say this with a straight face), the “leader of the free world,” is operating like a black hole, destroying everything that falls within his gravitational pull. In a year and a half he has converted the most powerful country on Earth into the laughingstock of the world and, God help us, he still has 2½ years to go.

Off the top of your head, can anyone think of one solid thing President Biden has done that has had a positive effect on the country or its people? And please don’t mention the freebies. Freebies only make a country and its people weaker. And I’m not talking about welfare benefits for the deserving.

Mr. Rodriguez in his short letter managed to call us Republicans criers, gullible, stupid and stupid. He also asks that if Trump told us that the world was flat, would we believe him? Really, Mr. Rodriguez, you must really think the Lord threw away all the remaining brains once he gave you your share. What you had to say could have been said without injecting all that gutter language.

As I said before, I respect your right to express your opinion, I just wish you had a little more respect for your fellow countrymen. The right to agree or disagree is automatic when you live in a free society. It is not a curse, it is a blessing.
