Gee, what a choice we, the people of Texas, are going to make in the gubernatorial race that will come to a climax in November.
In one corner we have a GOP incumbent who still hasn’t given us any answers on why his border inspection failed so badly that it resulted in billions of dollars of economic losses and spoiled food that will starve many families for years to come. He was even introduced as “a friend of South Texas” by a local mayor during a recent business summit that took place in McAllen. Yeah, , some “friend” we have for a state leader.
In the other corner we have a Democratic candidate who made a scene when he interrupted a news conference in Uvalde in an unorthodox manner. He could’ve held his own news briefing on gun control right after the Republican briefing was over and done with. But to each his own, I guess.
As for who will win the governor’s race, it’s a matter of who will emerge as the lesser of two evils when all is said and done.

Trump support
draws response
I keep reading some of the letters where Mr. Longoria and Mrs. Coronado keep glorifying Donald Trump as a strong world leader. In fact, Trump was very ignorant when it came to foreign policy.
Mr. Longoria states that if Joe Biden had drawn a line in the sand, Vladimir Putin wouldn’t have invaded Ukraine (Letters, June 3). Does Mr. Longoria forget that America has just finish fighting a 20-year war in the Middle East?
I wonder if Mr. Longoria would have been one of the first to enlist to go fight against Russia. I wonder if he has a son or daughter who will go fight there.
Mr. Longoria, world leaders were always laughing at your Orange Man and how stupid he was when it came to foreign policy.
How many Americans have died since the pull-out of Afghanistan? Ask yourself why, if Trump negotiated the pullout date, it was after the elections and not while he was in office.
We Americans don’t want to go to war. Wasn’t your Orange Man the one who withheld military aid to Ukraine unless they found find dirt on the Bidens? Wow — what a great world leader.

Reports
in doubt
I have read several articles and watched several news broadcasts concerning the shooting at RobbElementary School in Uvalde. Now we are being told that the Uvalde chief of police did not have a radio as he waited in the hallway with other law enforcement officers for approximately 40 minutes; therefore, he was unaware of the numerous 911 calls coming in from the students inside.
Are you kidding me? Please don’t tell me and all of your other readers that of the 19 law enforcement officers from various law enforcement agencies, not one of them had a radio.
It may not be the fault of the Uvalde chief of police, who may have run into the school due to the emergency of the situation without picking up a radio. However, I simply find it very hard to imagine that all 19 law enforcement officers forgot their radios. Every law enforcement officer I have ever met is equipped with radios attached to their utility belts (standard police equipment, in every city and/or state).
Remember the students, teachers and city of Uvalde, but question every law enforcement officer on the site that day to find out the real truth of that terrible shooting.
