Futuro RGV will host a forum next week designed to give candidates running for the McAllen Independent School District Board of Trustees a chance to share their vision and plans for leading the district.
The forum, slated for 7 p.m. April 15, will be streamed live on Futuro RGV’s Facebook page.
There are three seats up for election this year, two of which are contested and one of which isn’t.
Incumbent Debbie Crane Aliseda will attempt to defend her Place 3 seat from challenger Lucia Regalado, while newcomers Sofia M. Pena and Gilda M. Garcia will run for an undefended Place 6.
Place 7 incumbent Sam Saldivar Jr. will run unopposed for his seat.
All five candidates are billed as participants in next week’s forum.
Individuals with Facebook accounts can watch the livestream of the forum on their phone or tablet, while individuals without Facebook accounts are encouraged to watch the stream on a desktop or laptop at www.facebook.com/futurorgv, www.facebook.com/futurorgv/live or www.facebook.com/futurorgv/videos.
“Please note that the live stream will start at about 7 p.m. You will not see an announcement of the forum on the Facebook page until it actually starts,” Futuro RGV President Nedra Kinerk wrote. “We recommend that all viewers get on their phones, desktop, laptop, or however they plan to watch it, at 7 p.m. and visit the Futuro RGV Facebook page.”
The forum will be moderated by KURV talk show host Davis Rankin and Progress Times reporter Dave Hendricks. Questions can be submitted to those panelists at [email protected] or [email protected].
