HARLINGEN — Police are investigating an accident that killed a 73-year-old woman.
San Juana Benavides Sanchez was killed after the driver of a pickup truck hit her as she was walking along a crosswalk at the intersection of Pease Street and North Ed Carey Drive at about 12:04 p.m. April 27, officials stated in a press release.
The driver hit the woman as she was trying to cross North Ed Carey Drive while the pickup truck was trying to turn left from Pease Street onto North Ed Carey Drive, the release stated.
“The driver of the vehicle stopped and cooperated with officers,” the release stated.
The woman died at the hospital, the release stated.
