HARLINGEN — “Gone With The Wind.”

“Singin’ In The Rain” and “Shall We Dance.”

These are the different levels of sponsorships you can purchase for Saturday’s fundraiser for Loaves and Fishes of the Rio Grande Valley.

The event at the Harlingen Arts and Heritage Museum at 2425 Boxwood St. will feature local businessmen and women — including Mayor Norma Sepulveda — showcasing the attire of local designers. Even children will appear in the style show which will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The sponsorships are named for classic movies of long ago, fitting when you consider the fundraiser this year is titled, “The Golden Age of Hollywood 15th Annual Style Show.”

“It’s kind of thematic,” said Victor Rivera, executive director of Loaves and Fishes.

“Every year we try to come up with a new theme,” he said. “It’s going to be fun. It will be outdoors, and yes it’s going to be a fun event.”

The style show is one of only two fundraiser the charity organization holds each year.

“It’s extremely important,” Rivera said. “It’s actually a third of our budget. We rely on the community to help with that.”

And the community relies heavily on Loaves and Fishes, too.

“We have our dining hall where we serve three meals a day, five days a week both here and in Raymondville,” Rivera said. “Our other major program is our Open Arms Homeless Shelter where we provide shelter for men and women and families.”

Loaves and Fishes also has a food pantry from which it creates food bags for those experiencing “food insecurity.” It offers assistance with rent and utilities, mental health counseling, and other various programs.

Only a few seats and sponsorships are available, so show up early at the Harlingen Arts and Heritage Museum on Saturday to get a spot for a delightful afternoon.
