HARLINGEN — A judge set $500 personal recognizance bonds on two men charged with racing their cars.

On early Sunday, a police officer arrested Darius Hernandez, 22, of La Feria, and Gabriel Morales, 24, of Harlingen after allegedly catching them racing their cars on East Harrison Avenue, officials stated in a press release.

“A Harlingen officer observed a white Camaro racing with a black Dodge Charger from a point side-by-side at accelerating speeds in a competitive attempt to outdistance each other on the 1000 block of East Harrison,” officials stated in the press release.

The judge charged the men with racing on a highway, the press releases states.
