Wind advisory issued for Cameron and Willacy counties

A wind advisory issued for inland Willacy and Cameron counties and coastal Willacy and Cameron Counties has been extended until 3 p.m. today.

Southwest winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph are expected to continue during this time, the National Weather Service in Brownsville/Rio Grande Valley reports.

The NWS reports gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects, and tree limbs could be blown down. There’s also the possibility of a few power outages.

Motorists should use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle.
